Mrs. Betty May Jones, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford, MS. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Abbeville Cemetery in Abbeville, MS. Bro Jim Peterman will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was born in Oxford, MS. Mrs. Jones spent most of her life working as a housewife, although she also worked with her late husband, Jerrel Jones, who was a carpenter. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and everyone loved her food, especially her banana pudding. She was also a member of the Country Crafters Club and the Home Makers Club, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was also member of Abbeville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jones will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two children, Sylvia (Mark) Baker, of Abbeville and Randy (Dee) Jones, of Oxford; three sisters, Marie (Derald) Oliphant of Abbeville, Peggy Keel of Coldwater, MS, and Sharon (Danny) Dickey of Oxford; three brothers, Walter (Emma) Jordan of Vardaman, MS, Roy Gus (Nina) Jordan of Proctor, Arkansas, and Bobby Ray (Anne) Jordan of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Savannah Baker of Abbeville, Blakleigh Jones, Blair Jones, Jenna Ursic, and Drew Ursic all of Oxford; and three great grandchildren, Kinleigh Jones, Lilleigh Alexander, and Sophie Alexander all of Oxford.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her husband, Jerrel Jones and her parents Roy C. and Allie Myrtle Jordan.
Donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Betty May Jones may be made to the Abbeville Cemetery Fund.
