Three Greatest Questions of Life

Blog 74 7-26-2021 Three Greatest Questions of Life

* What is the purpose of my being here?

* Where did I come from?

 * Where am I going from here?

#1 thing to remember: Life is short. James 4:13-14 = Some of you say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to some city. We will stay there a year, do business, and make money.” Listen, think about this: 14 You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Your life is like a fog. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away.

I have two small pecks in my windshield. I could get them fixed at no cost to me — but they are not spreading a crack and I’ve gotten used to looking through them. But — IF I were to constantly FOCUS on a peck in my windshield — I’d be a dangerous driver. So, I look THROUGH it and PAST it! We must look PAST death, or we are likely to crash!

#2 thing to remember: All of us are made in the image of God, with an eternal soul. Gen. 1:26

When this old world passes, the only things that will remain to be appreciated are God and His people. If THAT is all that will MATTER THEN — it must be all that really MATTERS NOW. 2 Cor 5:6-8

#3 -= We are going from a home that is temporary, to one that is eternal. We have the option to go from an earthly home that is filled with agony and suffering to one of eternal happiness.

Revelation 14:13 (NKJV)
13  Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.”

 * Despite all this, sorrow often hovers over us as we stand in the presence of death.

  1. Just like we sing: “Where could I go but to the Lord?”
  2. God is the God of all comfort. 2 Cor. 1:3
  3. Listen to these words of comfort.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (NKJV)
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Where are you getting your answers to life’s questions?
