Garland Colbert
Garland Glen Colbert passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2020 at NMMC-Tupelo at the age of 83. He was born October 14, 1936 in the Trebloc Community to the late Howard and Helen Holloway Colbert. He graduated from Houston High School in 1954. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He worked at Bryan foods for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and gardening. He was regarded by many as a fantastic cook. Mr. Colbert was a lifelong fan of MSU athletics. It didn’t matter the sport, he loved his bulldogs.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday January 18, 2020 at Robinson Chapel with Rev. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Ware, Byron Acker, Andy White, Andy Riley, Brian Rives, Leon Kelly. Honorary pallbearers are Harmon Lake Hunting Club, staff and members of the Wellness Center, Fox Haas, Carl Bryan, Mike Simmons. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda Colbert of West Point; son, Gregory Glen Colbert (Dawn) of West Point; and 1 grandchild, Baleigh Purvis (Christian).
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
