Mr. Roy Monroe Davis, 92, traded his sorrow for joy on March 5, 2020, at the Bruce Community Living Center. Born on March 13, 1927, in the Old Field Community, Mr. Roy was the son of the late Claud Clifton Davis and Anna Kelly Davis.
Mr. Roy wore many career hats in his nine decades of life. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Roy served in the Navy to protect the great nation he called home. He owned and operated an oil and gas distribution service, farmed and raised cattle. Mr. Roy took pride in his work, but he had a deeper sense of affection for his cattle farm. Mr. Roy lived upon the level and practiced his values by the square as member of the Bruce Masonic Lodge. He was an active member of the esteemed Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Roy found joy in his expansive garden, where he cultivated a wide variety of vegetables. Mr. Roy didn’t simply pass away, he held in his soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus and worshiped him at First Baptist Church Bruce.
Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Ms. Nellie Gullick Davis, parents, sisters, Lavelle Johnson, Juanita Miles, Helen Watson and Midge Dulaney and a twin brother, James Ray Davis, Sr..
Mr. Roy is survived by expansive families that carry will his memory in their hearts. Two sons: Roy M. Davis Jr. (Ena) of Mobile, Alabama and Mark S. Davis (Lisa) of Pearl, Mississippi; daughter, Sara Davis Quillen (Ed) of Bruce, Mississippi; a brother, Claud Myron Davis, Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Alix Williams (Charles), Loryn Davis, Anna Quillen, Catherine Quillen, Edmond Quillen III (Katie), Kurt Davis, Natalie Davis, and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Roy will lie in repose from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce for friends and family to pay their respects also a visitation will be held from 12:00 PM on Sunday until the service. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2020, in the chapel with of Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Darryl Logan, Bro. Dan Robertson, and Bro. Jeff Dalton will officiate the service. Alan Davis, Andy Davis, James Ray Davis, John Davis, Eddie Johnson, and Edmond Quillen III will carry Roy to his resting place in the Bruce Cemetery.
