Frank Leroy “Sonny” Traylor

May 14, 1937 ~ March 21, 2020

Mr. Frank L. “Sonny” Traylor, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at his home in Oxford, MS surrounded by his loving family. Due to current health concerns, there will be a private family only service in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Reverend Gerald Shook officiating.  Burial will follow in North Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in Paris, MS, Mr. Traylor served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a loyal and faithful member of North Oxford Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Bereans Men’s Sunday School Class. He retired from Vend-A-Snack. Mr. Traylor was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene and Ethel Irene Huckaby Traylor; five brothers, Claude, James Elmore “Sweet”, Edward Earl, Louis, and Billy Traylor; and by three sisters, Louise Traylor, Emma Jean Cox, and Margurette Cole. 

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis Tallant Traylor of Oxford, MS; four sons, Terry Traylor and his wife, Lori of Flowood, MS, Lane Traylor and his wife, Jennifer of Abbeville, MS, Shane Traylor of Oxford, MS, and Tim Traylor and his wife, Wendy of Abbeville, MS; ten grandchildren, Richey, Will, Courtney, John, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Leslie, Kyle, Dylan, and Makaela; four sisters, Catherine Alderson of Oxford, MS, Frances Beard of Oxford, MS, JoAnn Taylor of Arizona, and Patti Lampkin of Oxford, MS as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Traylor’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231 or to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.

In honor of Mr. Traylor’s service to his country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
