James “Jim” Lansford Comer, Jr., 59, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, April 25, 2020, in Mooreville. Jim was born January 13, 1961 in Tupelo, MS to Lansford and Ruby Comer. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Melinda Gail Loden, June 26, 1981 at Dorsey Baptist Church and had two sons, James Matthew and Bradley Allen.
Jim was known for the love he had for his family, coaching and watching his sons play baseball, making people laugh, being with friends and family and overall having a good time. Becoming a grandfather was the highlight of his life and he dearly loved his two grandkids very much.
Private Services will be held. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Melinda of Mooreville, sons Matthew (Jessica) of Saltillo and Bradley (Lacey) of Tupelo, two grandchildren Miranda Beane and Jameson Comer of Saltillo, sisters Sandy Simmons (Ernie) of Tupelo, Emily Whitten of Mooreville, Sally Beane (David) of Peppertown, and a host of other family and friends that he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his father James Lansford, mother Ruby Comer and his beloved dog Buster of 19 years.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the North Mississippi Hematology & Oncology Associates Ltd, North Mississippi Medical Center, especially Dr. Andrew Kellum, Dr. Benjamin Hinton, Dr. Lindsey Hinton, and all the friends and family who have helped with his care.
