Mrs. Eva Jewell Herring Bishop Luker, 92, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Elmcroft of Oxford. The funeral service will be Friday, July 3, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Glasgow Cemetery in Pontotoc, MS. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home. *In accordance with guidelines issued by the State of Mississippi, social distancing guidelines will be followed and face coverings should be worn. If you or someone living with you is experiencing fever, cough or other symptoms related to COVID 19, have tested positive for COVID 19 or are awaiting test results for COVID 19, we kindly ask that you do not attend.*
Born in Pontotoc County, MS, Mrs. Luker was the widow of Mr. Maurice D. Luker and Mr. Byron Brooks Bishop. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church and she enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden and caring for her lawn. She thoughtfully cared for her home and family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Smith; a step-son, John Luker and two sisters, Leona Boyd and Kathleen Austin.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo Vinzant and her husband, Frank of Pelahatchie, MS, Martha Gray and her husband, Thomas of Memphis, TN; a stepdaughter, Diane Kabbes and her husband, Rob of Milford, OH; a son, Gary Bishop of Hernando, MS; two stepsons, Mike Luker of Randolph, MS and Paul Luker and his wife, Susan of Abbeville, MS; a son-in-law, Paul Smith of Pearl, MS; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
