Neil Prestwich

August 4, 1952

Neil Bertram Prestwich, 67, departed this life at his home in Fulton, Miss. following a brief

battle with cancer. A lifelong music lover, Neil enjoyed his remaining hours listening to his

favorite vinyl records and the sound of his grandchildren playing around him.

Neil was born on August 4, 1952 in Hockley Essex, England to James and Jean Prestwich. A

seasoned world traveler, he spent his early adulthood hitchhiking across Europe, the Middle

East, and Israel before returning home to England and marrying his longtime friend and

greatest love, Dorothy Mazei Prestwich in 1981. After the birth of their first child, they returned

to the United States, where Neil eventually began a 40 year career as a non-destructive testing engineer working on critical infrastructure sites, such as nuclear power plants and dams across the globe.

While he enjoyed traveling for work, Neil most loved the times spent with his family and friends at home in his backyard, where he was the master of his grill and his stereo, serenading the neighborhood with everything from The Beatles to Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band.

Neil is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dorothy, his mother Jean, and his sister in law Jayne.

He leaves a legacy in his children, David (Laura), Chloé (Bryce), Sarah (Aaron), and Michael

(Kris); his grandchildren, Ben and Emaline Williams, Riley Prestwich, and Anna Katherine

Busby; his nieces Joanna and Kathleen; and his great nephew Thomas; sister in laws; Leslie Johnson and Elizabeth Mazei; brother in law; Lewis Gerald (Lorena) Mazei; and a host of other family members.

He is preceded in death by his father, James, and his brother Andy.

  1. Hello I want to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss and would like to share a scripture with the family. It is found at Acts 24:15 which says, “15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Here we see that God, whose name is Jehovah is going to bring our loved ones back to life. This is a time many people look forward to. I hope this message is a source of encouragement for the family.
