Coy Inez Hines

July 23, 1922 – August 31, 2020

Coy Inez Taylor Hines, 98, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Trinity Health Care in Columbus, MS. She was born July 23, 1922 in Union County to Quitman Rivers Taylor and Vera Lowery Howell. She was the widow of James Lamar “Jim” Hines. She and her husband owned and operated H & G Fabrics in New Albany for thirty years. She also helped her husband when he served as Union County Sheriff and as New Albany Police Chief. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of New Albany.
She is survived by a sister, Louise Owen; a son-in-law, Jimmy E. Baker; two granddaughters, Patricia Kaye Baker Jeffries and Ida Kathryn Baker Dawkins (Jeff); and three great grandchildren, Caleb English, Taylor English (Julie) and Blake Dawkins; and one great -great granddaughter, Remi Kate English.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Lynda Kaye Hines Baker; and her siblings, James Quitman Taylor, John Walker Taylor, Willie Faye Taylor and Eva Mae Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
