Hoover, AL – Richard James Hill, 55, of Hoover, AL passed away on December 9, 2020 at UAB Palliative Care Unit in Birmingham, AL. He was born to James and Patricia Hill in Long Beach, CA and was a member of the Methodist Church. After moving to Mississippi, he met and married the love of his life in 1995, Anna Elizabeth South, daughter of Richard and Lucille South. He had a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and had even built his own computer in a cardboard box. He loved being outdoors and doing things such as fishing, walking and rock climbing. He was a loving husband and devoted father to his wife and two young boys.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 17, 2020, 11:00 am at Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery with Brother Dickie Bryan officiating. Burial will immediately follow. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents; James and Patricia Hill, wife; Anna Elizabeth Hill of Hoover, his sons; James Wendell Hill and Patrick Stephen Hill of Hoover, his sisters; Janice Patricia Hill of Palos Verdes Estates, CA and Virginia Lynn Nichols and her husband Andy of Fountain Valley, CA.
Pallbearers will be Rob Ashley, Will Foster, Davis Foster, Zach Nichols, Bryce Nichols and David Foster.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Nurses & Staff of UAB Palliative Care Unit, Tod Sword, Owen Lagarde, Jerry Wong and Ed South.
