BALDWYN Brenda Starks, whom we so dearly love, departed her loving family on January 27, 2021.
Brenda Starks was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi on May 19, 1946 to Bonnie Lee and Jim Macon who preceded her in death.
Brenda Starks raised her children with love and devotion in Baldwyn, Mississippi with her husband Henry Russell Starks, who preceded her in death.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on May 17, 1970 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit Michigan and attended the Kingdom Hall in Tupelo, Ms. Her passion was to always share the Bible truths with others. She taught her children about Jehovah and assisted many others to serve Him.
She loved singing and her beautiful voice can still be heard in our ears. She also enjoyed talking. Because she was so generous there was no need to worry about needing anything. She could work wonders without leaving her home. Even while in the nursing home, she mothered us. We'd pray, sing kingdom melodies, talk about the meetings and the goodness of Jehovah. Her faith was strong and she endured to the end. Many residents remember her also working in the food services for Baldwyn School Systems.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children who survive her: Teis Tyrone McKinnon of Saltillo, MS; Tracey (Ernie) James of Pooler, GA; Shane (Doneisha) Starks of Saltillo, MS; Chancey Starks (Terry Warren) of Booneville, MS; and two step-children, Anthony Starks and Devetta (Timothy) Johnson both of Baldwyn, MS. One stepson preceded her in death, Corey Starks.
Brenda Starks is lovingly remembered by her brothers: John Macon of Baldwyn, MS; Michael (Maria) Macon of the Philippines, and Demetrius (Tarsher) Macon of Verona, MS. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jimmy Macon and Bervin Macon, and her sister JoAnne Fly.
She doted on and was proud of her 8 grandchildren who affectionately called her Granny or Dolly: Ivory, Princiss, and Prinston Nunn, Chelsea and Rebekah James, Kennedy Starks, Lyrika Warren, and Khloe Starks.
She will also be deeply missed by a host of nieces and nephews, her congregation, and friends, and a very special friend who stayed by her side Cherry (Thomas) Payne.
Our memories with her – her smile, her hugs, her love will never be forgotten. But a vivid image of her brings even more joy to our hearts. It is of the time when she will awaken from death, young and healthy, free from old age and sickness, to live forever here on earth as Jehovah God promises.
(Revelation 21:4; John 5:28,29) Her beautiful voice will then join ours in happy song of praise and gratitude: "We thank our God for all you have done!" This is what she would want us to think about. This is what she taught us. She set the example of how to walk in faith and endure with this hope. And that's what we will do. If you would like to know more about the hope Brenda shared, please let us know or visit jw.org.
The family would like to thank friends and family for the calls, texts and encouragement during this time.
We would also like to thank Associated Family Funeral Home and Baldwyn Nursing Home for the fine care.
