Mr. James Lee Hankins, 60, transitioned on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his residence in Holly Springs.
JAMES was sent by God on July 28, 1960 as the 2nd born child of the late Willie and Florence Hankins. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church, were he remained a member until his death.
JAMES received his education from Mary Reid Elementary and Potts Camp High School in Potts Camp, MS. He was a proud graduate of the class of 1979. Upon graduating High school, James joined the United States Army, where he served from 1979-1981. After leaving the Army, he developed an interest in cutting and styling hair; he attended Foster Barber & Cosmetology Hair School in Ripley, MS, where he received his Barber and Cosmetology License from the state of MS.
JAMES was dispatched by Angels from God to take him home in the late afternoon hours of February 17, 2021; without a last farewell or goodbye, he quietly took wings to the sky.
JAMES was deeply loved and will be truly missed by his loves ones, especially his two sons: Justin Corvette Ramsey of Austin, TX and Stevie Jamal Cowan of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Larry (Helena) Hankins of Horn Lake, MS, Danny (Lameshia) Hankins of Holly Springs, MS, Jessie Frank (Dewana) Hankins of Three Rivers, MI; three sisters, Brenda Walton, Melaine Hankins, and Ivory Hankins all of Holly Springs, MS, he had a special bond with his nieces and nephews whom he treated as his own children.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 3-5p.m., at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Springs. Burial will take place at Charity Hill Cemetery in Potts Camp, MS. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.
