Gloria Strickland McWhirter

July 22, 1931 – February 23, 2021

Etta – Gloria Maye Strickland McWhirter, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence. She was born July 22, 1931 in Marietta, Mississippi to Weldon Barkley Strickland and Ruby Lee Gann Strickland. She was member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, and mother. She enjoyed canning, quilting, doll collecting and sewing, especially clothes and purses for her dolls. She was so very much loved and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 3:00pm at United Funeral Service with Bro Michael Baker and Bro. Dan Darling officiating.
Visitation will be from 2pm till the start of the service at 3:00pm at United Funeral Service.
She is survived by her daughter, Nanette Hancock; two sons, Jerry Keith McWhirter (Patricia) and Terry Reid McWhirter, three sisters; Jeanette Beckman, Peggy Atchley, and Sherry Ezell, three brothers; Harold Strickland, Lee Edward Strickland, and Weldon Barkley Strickland Jr., seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Weldon Barkley Strickland, a son-in-law David Hancock, two sisters, Judy Langston and Joyce Baldwin, and two brothers, Charles Strickland and Johnny Strickland.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Hancock, Brent Hancock, Mathew McWhirter, Chris McWhirter, and Adam McWhirter.
