Mrs. Lura Margaret Cook, 80, transitioned on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at The University Medical Center in Grenada, MS. She was born on November 16, 1940 to Margaret Adams and Sam Newman in Water Valley, MS.
Lura was married to James Earl Cook who preceded her in death.
Lura dedicated her life to Jehovah on February 2, 1969. She was a hard worker, who worked at Kellwood Sewing Factory until the doors closed and she worked at North MS Regional Center for 25 years until she retired.
Lura was a generous person who enjoyed helping those sick and in need; and she loved to talk on the phone to family and friends. She was a fine example for all—always out in the ministry talking to ones about Jehovah.
To cherish her memories, she leaves four children, Andrew (Linda) Cook of Memphis, TN, Rhonda Cook and Abigail Dennis of Oxford, MS and David Cook of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Richard & Keyshawn Dennis, Aayliah & Ashley Cook all of Oxford, MS, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial will take place at Oxford Memorial Gardens. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 5-7p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford.
