Gweneth Williamson

September 9, 1951 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 70)

Gweneth “Gwen” Elise Williamson, 70, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.

Gwen as she was lovingly known by her friends and family, was born in Basseterre, St. Christopher (St. Kitts), West Indies on September 9, 1951.  She also lived in St. Thomas, New York, and St. Croix before relocating to Belden, MS.  Gweneth loved cricket, listening to music, working puzzles, and shopping.  She was affiliated with The United Methodist Church.

Gweneth was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham Nathaniel and Ioming Agatha Newton; her husband, Charles Williamson; two brothers, Arlington Woods, and twin Bernel Newton.

Gweneth is survived by her son Akido Newton and wife, Eva (Jacksonville, FL); her daughters, Petra Newton (St. Kitts), Kalil Newton-Delacoudray and husband, Theodore (Belden, MS), and Ruth Williamson (Jacksonville, FL); a very special nephew, Elroy Newton (Charleston, SC); brothers, Keithley Maynard (Bermuda), Errol Newton (New York), Eardley Newton (Miami, FL), Alphin and Marvin Thompson (St. Kitts); sisters, Althea (St. Croix), Mirrleese (Tortola, BVI), and a special sister, Yvette Newton (St. Maarten,NA); three grandchildren, Damarni, Joshua, and Joy; beloved cousins, Joy, Rosemary, and Gail (Bermuda); special friends, Honor Cecelia Lawrence- Brooks and Prudence France (St. Kitts), Nurse Sylvia Liddie and family (London, England), Oliver Storrod (Canada); special friends and caretakers including Mauretta Hazel, Denise Thomas, Anne-Lise Walters-Peets, Norla Serrant-Blanc and Flavia Logie, Esq. (St. Croix); numerous nieces and nephews; other friends and relatives.

The family of Gweneth Elise Williamson would like to thank Dr. Renee Walters, attending physicians and staff of North Mississippi Medical Centre, and the staff of the Sanctuary Hospice House for the kind and tender care shown to Gweneth and the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to The Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38802 in the memory of Mrs. Gweneth Williamson.

The family will hold a private family service at a later date.  Holland Funeral Directors has been honored to serve the Williamson family and friends.
