Jessie Fay Akins

New Albany-Jessie Fay Crumpton Akins, 86, went to her final resting place on Saturday, January 29, 2022. She was born May 12, 1935 to Kelon Crumpton and Ruth Hall. She worked for Irwin B. Schwabe and Graceland Nursing Home for short times but was a full-time homemaker. She was a master at quilting, as was it her passion. She also enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and cooking. She was a member of Martin Baptist Church.
A service for Mrs. Akins will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00pm at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bud McCraw officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm till 8pm Monday, January 31, 2022 also at United Funeral Service.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Troy Akins; four daughters, Wilma Fay Simmons of New Albany, Willie Ann Bateman (Terry), Penny Inez Hackathorn, and Patricia Lynn Hall (Ronnie); one sister, Shelby Easley of New Albany, one brother Leonard Crumpton (Bernice) of Ripley; nine grandchildren, William Douglas Simmons, Terry Lee Simmons, Virginia Chism (Daran) T.C. Bateman (Lynsey), Vicky Higginbotham (Michael), Ray Hackathorn (Elizabeth), Lacy Allen Hall (Kim), Jacob Hall (Beth), and Neely Hall; fifteen great-grandchildren, Zack Simmons, Savannah Simmons, Marissa Simmons, T.J. Simmons, Natalie Simmons, Andrew Chism, Andrew Ellis, Jake Ellis, William Ellis, Dean Hackathorn, Benjamin Hackathorn, Aubrey Hall, Clarie MaHarrey, Jacob Wilson, and Nathan Wilson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kelon and Ruth Crumpton, one brother, Curtis Ray Crumpton, one sister, Peggy Joyce Bell, one son-in-law, Cecil Simmons and one brother-in-law Billy Easley.
