McMinnville – Shelley Annette Gentry, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, 2022, in McMinnville, Oregon. She was born on April 16, 1974 in Jackson, MS.
A young lady who was driven, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology and was working on her Masters Degree in Statistics of Disease Control and Population. She was looking forward to her career yet she became ill.
Shelley enjoyed traveling abroad and fully immersed herself in the different cultures. During that time, she became fluent in the Spanish language and enjoyed conversing with others of different backgrounds.
Talented, she dabbled in several musical instruments including guitar, saxophone, drums, hand drums and castanets. During her life, she enjoyed music of all kinds especially Hispanic music which led to her joining a flamenco dancing group. She loved classic rock and was a DJ at one time playing it on the air. A young lady with a big heart, Shelley was an avid animal lover especially dogs and cats.
She will be missed dearly by her family and friends yet the memories of her will live on in their hearts.
She is survived by her mother, Annette Cole Phillips (Darrell), formerly of Amory, now living in McMinnville, Oregon; and father, Art Gentry (Lisa) of Amory; her brother, Aaron Gentry (Mary Fulp), of Athens, Georgia.
