Roy T. Myers

Reverend Roy Thomas Myers went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at his residence in West Point. Roy was born on August 18, 1934, in Madden, to the late Thomas Jackson and Mary Ann Knowles Myers. He obtained a degree from Mississippi College, majoring in Education with a minor degree in Bible.

For one year, he was a bi-vocational teacher, teaching grammar school and driving a bus during the week and then pastoring a church on weekends. After one year of teaching in the school system, he decided he had gotten his education and knew he was called to be a Pastor. He went on to serve as pastor to many churches for over 60 years proclaiming God's word. His desire has always been for people to see their need of dependency on God and staying in His Word.

His life verse was "I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work." John 9:4

During his time as Pastor, he was able to travel extensively preaching God's Word. Along with pastoring churches across Mississippi and Louisiana, he was also privileged to travel to Bangladesh, Thailand, Argentina and the Philippines to teach Bible studies to missionaries and Pastors.

Syble has been Roy's constant and faithful companion for 66 years, encouraging him in his work and making their home a welcome retreat.

In addition to his wife, Syble, he is survived by two daughters, Sheila (Rick) Brandon of Petal and Amanda (Kenny) Dungan of Kosciusko: four grandchildren, Derrick Brandon, Chase (Holly) Brandon, Erin (Alex) Touchstone, and Jonathan (Tina) Dungan: eight great-grandchildren, Jonah, Noah, Elijah, and Juliette Brandon, Addilyn, Everly and Wells Touchstone, and Emersyn Dungan: and two brothers, Everett and Franklin (Marie) Myers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby brother, Jackie Wayne Myers and his twin brother, Troy Jackson Myers.

Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Joe Wiggins officiating and assisted by Rev. Don Boone. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
