Mr. Roger Wayne White, 66, died Friday, April 1, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church in Byram, MS.
Roger was born in Jackson, MS to the late William and Mildred White. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church. At both churches, Roger was an active and devout member. He was quick to volunteer his time when needed and participated and led both the children’s and adult choir. A graduate of Hinds Community College and The University of Mississippi Medical Center, Roger earned his nursing degree and became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He worked at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS for over 30 years, before fulfilling his dream of retiring to Oxford in 2020. Roger loved Oxford and the Ole Miss community and was most happy at Swayze Field, watching the Rebels play ball. When he wasn’t spending a sunny day at the stadium, you could find him on the beach, lake, or any body of water! Roger wasn’t picky when it came to a relaxing afternoon and could find the joy in any moment. A man of many hobbies, he enjoyed reading and welding, especially designing pens. Roger was a master of projects – always moving from one project to the next. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren who affectionally referred to him as, “Papa”. Most of all, he adored his beloved wife, who was truly his life-long best friend.
Roger is survived by his dear wife, Judy White of Oxford, MS; a daughter, Amy Lee and her wife, Kendal of Madison, MS; a son, Jason White and his wife, Kristi of Oxford, MS; a sister, Linda Morrow of Raymond, MS; grandchildren, Sydney Grace White, Harper Lane White, and Ava Lynn White and a granddaughter soon to be born, Kennedy Leigh White.

Judy,
I was sad to hear about Roger’s passing. I don’t think I have seen you or Roger in over 40 years. Roger always seemed to be a pretty decent guy….sounds like he was still the same until the Lord decided to take him home. I pray that your family and your Christian faith carries you through this rough time. Try to take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord.
I worked with Roger at St. Dominics for 2 years(1997-1999). I lost contact with him when I moved to Nashville. He was always full of fun and laughter. A great Anesthetist and a fine gentleman. I know he will be missed by all.
Prayers for the family and his lovely wife Judy.
Dear White family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
