Fred “Sonny” Jr Mason

Fred “Sonny” Jr Mason, 81, of Hinkle Community, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at his home. He was born on March 21, 1941 to Fred Puttman and Mamie Sue Litrel Rinehart Mason and Step-father Taft Ford.He was a member of the Mills Community Baptist Church where he was a devoted Christian and was a deacon for over 30 years. He worked for Quartet Manufacturing in Booneville for over 30 years before retiring in 2004. He loved gardening and working in his yard.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Mills Community Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Ross and Bro. Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Mills Community Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at McMillan Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years whom he married on April 11, 1975, Eva Nell Ross Mason; his son, Brian O’Neal Mason; four grandchildren, Nikki Brewer, Kaci Brewer, Amber Duncan and Kenny Duncan; 2 great-grandchildren, Serana Duncan and Chaleigh Brewer; a special great niece, Maketa LaRae and several other nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Jason Lamar Mason, Jeffery Lane Ross and Kevin Neal Ross; his brother, Bobby Frank Mason; his sisters and brother-in-laws, Jewel and Earl Owens, Billie Sue and Wade Lambert; his great-grandchildren, Crystlyn Brewer and Dakota Brassfield; his in laws, Joe Ross and Cora Downs Ross.

Pallbearers will be Ray Mason, Ray Jacobs, Donny Davis, Ashley Gann, Zac Gann and Zane Gann. Honorary pallbearers will be, Larry Johnson, Bill Jacobs and the men of Mills Community Baptist Church.
