Albert Elon East, 80, passed away peacefully at NMMC Hospice Unit on July 21, 2022, at around 9 PM after battling an extended illness for the past few years. He was an absolute fighter for his life as well as his family’s. He loved fiercely and put his heart into every aspect of his life. If you knew him, you most certainly loved him. He was always happy and loved to laugh and make others laugh. Most importantly, he was a Christian and lived his life for the lord. He was a member of Chesterville Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many, many years. He was an employee of Renasant Bank for 30 years up until his retirement in 2014. He loved his job and socializing with his co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy East and Azalea Fowler East and his in-laws, Alfred P. Kelly and Wilma Hart Kelly. He was survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Kelly East, his only daughter, Michelle Bryant Otts (Jeff), his only granddaughter Kelsey Otts Berkes (Tim), and his favorite of all, his 4 year old great-grandson Hudson Tate Berkes.
A memorial service will be held at Chesterville Baptist Church on August 7th at 2 PM.

Dear East family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
