Zeynab (Homa) Khatirzad

November 26, 1950 ~ December 25, 2022

Zeynab (Homa) Khatirzad, born in Babol, Iran, and lived most of her life in Starkville, Mississippi, passed away after a vigorous battle with cancer on December 25th, 2022. She passed away in Atlanta, GA, lovingly surrounded by her husband, Dr. Mehrzad (Mo) Netadj, her children, Mahyar and Meisam, and her sister, Nazee.

Zeynab Khatirzad was born on November 26, 1950, to her parents Ramzan Khatirzad and Kobra Nasiraie in Babol, Iran. After proudly earning a degree from the University of Sari in education, she taught mathematics in Iran for 4 years and moved to the United States in 1979. She went on to have 2 children Mahyar and Meisam and felt proud that they became productive adults with children of their own. In addition to being a devoted mother and loyal wife, she made a career for herself at Garan as a pattern designer for 40 years.

Zeynab, or Mamaw, as she was affectionately known by, unconditionally, unselfishly loved her children and supported them all her life. She also made it her mission to care for anyone she encountered.
Zeynab was also passionate about her faith in God and her family. She was an advocate and a mother away from home to international students at Mississippi State University; often opening her home and cooking traditional holiday feasts for students who could not be with their own families.

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and especially spending quality time with her children while spoiling her grandchildren.

To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. Zeynab was a well- respected and cherished colleague as well as a loyal friend to many in the community. It was said Zeynab was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well-being of her many friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Mehrzad Netadj, sons Mahyar and Meisam Netadj, her grandchildren, Mylen Beckett, Liam Keller, Kirby Ann and Ada Grace Netadj.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 9am to 11am at Welch Funeral Home located at 201 W. Lampkin St. Starkville, MS 39759. Burial services will be a private event for immediate family only.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations can be made to The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Atlanta, Georgia. Cancer Fighters: Leslie Gable (770) 400 – 6408.

She should be remembered and acknowledged as hardworking, loyal, unselfish, a caring friend, a loving and devoted mother, and an esteemed, respected colleague.
