Vernon “Bun” Joseph Roberts, Jr.

Vernon “Bun” Joseph Roberts, Jr., 60, passed away January 16, 2023 at Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, MS. There will be A Celebration of Life Graveside Service held Friday January 20, 2023 at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS beginning at one o’clock in the afternoon. Magnolia Cemetery is located at 2638 23rd Ave, Meridian, MS 39305.

Bun was born December 7, 1962 to the late Vernon Joseph, Sr. and Mary Elaine DeGraffenried Roberts. He graduated from University of Mississippi in Oxford. He received two post grad degrees in medical technology and perfusion from the Texas Heart Institute. He worked for many years at the DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Bun was an avid sports fan and cheered for his favorite team the Ole Miss Rebels. He was an eccentric man with a great sense of humor and wonder. He was a recreational pilot, scuba diver, watcher of classic television, student of history and collector of various toys and artifacts.

He was preceded into death by his parents.

Bun was survived by his beloved dogs, Elvis, Dixie and Susie Q; sister, Lisa Gilmore (Dr. James) of Corinth, MS; nieces, Emily Gilmore of Oxford, MS and Mary Gilmore of Los Angeles, CA; cousins, Leigh Althaus of Chattanooga, TN, David Price (Etta) of Madison, MS and Mike Price (Joey) of Salt Lake City, Utah; lifelong friend, Darryl Sevier of Baton Rouge, LA; and longtime co-worker, Carol Taggart of Tuscaloosa, AL.

The family sends out a special “Thank You” to the nursing staff of Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, MS.
