Beloved Pastor Lynton L. Younger, Jr., died on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, due to complications during a medical procedure. He was 89. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 8, 1933, to the late Lynton Sr. and Ruth Younger, he grew up there, then graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. He became a Southern Baptist pastor and remained one for more than 60 years. He pastored churches in Texas, Washington state, South Dakota, Mississippi and Ohio. He baptized, married, and eulogized hundreds of people, and discipled thousands. He was a well-respected, loved man in every church he shepherded and every community he served. The name of Jesus was always on his lips, as he never tired of telling others about His Savior and Lord. For his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was a teacher, a playmate and a role model. He went to great lengths to teach them all about loving model airplanes, the Dallas Cowboys, and the people around them.
Lynton is survived by his wife Clarice, to whom he was married on September 3, 1956, at Tombigbee Baptist Church in Mantachie; his brother Kenneth Younger of Houston, TX; his sister Mary Nell Younger Stapper of Boerne, TX; sons Brett (Carol) of Brooklyn, NY and Marshal (Stephanie) of Colorado Springs, CO; his six grandchildren, Graham, Bryn, Caleb, Paityn, Kristyn, and Cory; and his five great grandchildren, Elias (7), Eden (6), Israel (2), Lincoln (1) and Ada (7 weeks).
