John Calvin Crecink Jr. Always described as “One of the truly good guys and so kind”,John C. Crecink Jr a long time resident of Starkville, MS, passed away on the eve of June 17,2023.
Born on September 17, 1951 in Fort Collins, Colorado, John was the son of John C. Crecink Sr and Jane Crecink. He was married to Candace W. Crecink (Candy) for 49 years, John graduated from Starkville High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and a juris doctorate degree from Washington and Lee University. John’s law practice in oil and gas, real estate, real estate development, corporate and commercial law began in Jackson, MS and continued until retirement in Starkville, MS. A firm believer in keeping life simple, John lived by the following words “The true value of a man can be measured by his family, friends and faith”. He was fiercely committed to this philosophy by continually welcoming new friends into his life, by his continuous involvement in numerous community organizations and programs ensuring a quality life for his family, his friends and all and by sharing his strong faith through his memberships at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Jackson and First United Methodist Church in Starkville where he served on various committees and outreach programs. John always felt the value of his life was priceless because of his family, his friends and his faith.
His parents John and Jane Crecink of Starkville predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved wife Candy, his cherished daughter Jane Ellen Crecink Bell (Walker). His siblings are brother Bob Crecink (Karen) of Starkville, sisters Dr. Mary Crecink Kot ( Joe) of Macon, GA and Janet Crecink (Jan) of Pass Christian, MS and his brother-in-law Field Wilde (Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, FL. His adored grandchildren, Candace Palmer Bell, Ava Claire Bell and William John Bell. He is also survived by a circle of much loved cousins, nephews, nieces and grand nephew.
Preceded by a private family only graveside ceremony, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Mississippi State University Chapel of Memories, 135 Walker Road, Saturday, June 24 at 3:00 PM with visitation preceding from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canopy Children’s Solutions (formerly Mississippi Children’s Home), Mississippi Public Broadcast, Oservs (Starkville) or the charity of your choice.
