Clara Beth Harris Dean of Calhoun City, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the age of 81. She was a native of Choctaw county and lived most of her life in Calhoun City. She was known to friends and family as Beth and had resided in Hattiesburg, Mississippi since 2021.
Beth was born on December 31, 1941 to Ioma and Edward Harris. She was married to Johnny Hall Dean for 57 wonderful years. Beth was a home economics and elementary teacher. She was also a very active member of First Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Two of Beth's most loved and enjoyed hobbies were sewing and cross stitching. She also loved to cook and entertain. She and Johnny actively enjoyed their supper club for years creating lasting memories with close friends. Beth volunteered her time with civic clubs, community events, and serving others. She liked to play golf and was thrilled when she hit a hole-in-one at Pine Hills Country Club. She loved to travel and made great memories traveling with "The Girls" around the world. Beth was truly loved as a wife, mother, mother in-law, and grandmother. To her two grandchildren, she was known as "Nana". She loved playing with them, and they adored her. Her smile and enthusiasm for life will be missed.
Beth is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Chris) Davis and grandchildren Mark Davis and Layne Davis.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Johnny Dean. Her parents, Ioma and Edward Harris, her sister Martha Jane Crowder, and her brothers Carl Harris and Charles Harris.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service honoring Beth's life will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Dr. Anthony Kay and Bro. Jimmy Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah cemetery in Weir, MS at 4:00 PM.
