Sarah Jane Hansen, age 58, of Starkville, MS passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Sarah has many places she has called home. Born in Iowa, she grew up across the south, living in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Kentucky. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Family Services from Iowa State University. She earned her Masters of Education from Mississippi State University where she enjoyed being a member of the Famous Maroon Band. She built a career in information technology, workforce development, and training. She was driven to help others succeed and reach their potential. Sarah enjoyed sewing and was a member of several Quilt Clubs.
Sarah is survived by her mother Louise Hansen and her siblings Valerie Hansen Wilson, Lori Penning (Kevin), Nick Hansen (Beth), and Heidi Lindsey (Kenneth). She joins her father Kenneth Hansen in our heavenly home. Sarah had a great appreciation for art, music, and sports, especially if it involved, Maroon & White, Cowbells and the beloved MSU Bulldogs. She loved her family and nurtured the creativity and passions of her 6 nephews, 5 nieces, 5 great-nephews, and 3 great-nieces.
She was an active member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and her love for God was a guidepost for her life. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her family rejoices in the knowledge that she rests in the arms of the Lord. Confirmation verse Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel.
