Annie Jean Hardin Scott, 98, of Vardaman, MS went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 01, 2023, at her home in Vardaman, MS. She was born on February 17, 1925, in Derma, MS to the late David Lonnie Hardin and Clytee Moore Hardin.
Annie was a graduate of Mississippi College earning her degree in elementary education. After she earned her degree, she furthered her education by earning a master's degree. Annie's dedication to teaching spanned over two decades, starting in 1964 and culminating in her retirement in 1985. Her commitment to her students went far beyond the classroom, as she also served as a school tutor, providing support and guidance to those in need. Not only did Annie teach school she also taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the church choir. She loved playing the piano, loved nature, and treasured the time she spent working in her yard. She played a number of card games and solved numerous crossword puzzles. In her quiet time, Annie could be found crocheting. Annie was a member of First Baptist Church Vardaman. Although she has departed from our presence, she has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness and pain.
She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: daughter, Suzanne (Bobby) Inmon of Vardaman; two sons: Ronald Hardin (Pam) Scott of Maryville, TN; William Jeffery (Peanut) Scott of Benton, LA; sister, Jennie Sue Tedder of Vardaman; five grandchildren: Jeanne Ann (Parish) Hartley, Todd (Pamela) Scott, Michael (Tanya) Scott, Josh (Jenna) Scott, and Daniel (Lasaundra) Scott. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel "Buck" Joshua Scott; parents, David Lonnie Hardin and Clytee Moore Hardin; two sisters: Addilene Anderson and Mary Nell Hannaford; three brothers: William "Bunk" Hardin, David Lee Hardin, and Robert "Bob" Hardin; grandchild, Rob Inmon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 03, 2023, from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman. The graveside service honoring Annie's life will take place on Sunday, September 03, 2023, in Midway Cemetery at 2:30 PM with Rev. Parish Hartley officiating. Grant Hartley, Parish Hartley, Jeff Scott, Michael Scott, Ronald Scott, and Todd Scott will serve as pallbearers.
