Edna Jean Davis Jacobs passed away September 5th at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 7th, 1933 in Baldwyn, MS. She was a graduate of Baldwyn High School, attended Blue Mountain College, and obtained her degree from the University of Mississippi. She taught home economics for 35 years and spent most of that time living in Illinois before retiring to return to her hometown of Baldwyn. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. Her innate ability to teach blossomed from her deep compassion for all those she loved. She enjoyed traveling, reading, history, and spending time with her dear friends. Jean was a caregiver to many, and she took care of both her mother and daughter. Everyone loved hearing her stories and would keep her talking just at the chance to hear another. To know Jean was to know true honesty and love. She constantly enriched all of our lives.
Survivors include her brother Jim Davis and his wife Lori, her nephews Zack, Will, Bob, Ben, and their spouses and children, her cousins Hannon and Star Ray, their children Summer, Sky, Storm, and their children and spouses, and three special friends Jackie Whitaker, Daisy Calamese, and Gloria Mears.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Jan Jacobs, her husband Ralph F Jacobs, her mother Edna Rice, her stepfather Clifford (Bud) Rice, her sister Norma Whitaker, and her brother-in-law Jim Whitaker.
Visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm, and the memorial service will start at 2pm at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, MS. with Bro. Byran Horner and Zack Davis officiating. There will be no graveside service.
