Ida Marie Elston Clark, of Fulton, departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2023, while under the special care of NMMC Hospice. She was 94. As her health declined, her faith in God gave her the strength needed to endure what was to come. She was born April 8, 1929, in Melvin, Michigan to Lee and Minnie Mathews Elston.
She married her beloved husband, Floyd Elton Clark, on November 22, 1952. The couple had one son, James "Jim" Floyd Clark on May 22, 1956. Ida was primarily a housewife, but did work at the clothing store, Sprayberry’s, in Fulton, for a few years.
The Biblical verse which probably describes Mom the best is I Corinthians 13:4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
In later life, she loved to sit in her recliner, by the patio door and watch birds come to her feeders and flowers. She enjoyed her church family at Trinity Baptist Church while health allowed. She also liked to do Crossword puzzles and word search games.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. David Haynes officiating. Remembrances will be given by Jan McElroy. Music will be provided by soloist Mark Robbins and pianist Linda Craft. Private burial will follow in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is honored to be serving their friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, who she was married to for 68 years, four brothers, George, Jerry, Donald and Dwight Elston; and three sisters, Alva Gertrude “Peggy” Stone, Jennie Boyce Voges and Jean Ann Elston.
She leaves behind her son, James “Jim” Floyd Clark (Linda), also of Fulton; a granddaughter, Amy Stone (Scott) of Pace, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren who she dearly loved, Connor and Suzanne Stone; all of Florida. She also leaves behind her special caregiver, Diane Robertson.
Pallbearers will be Connor Stone, Scott Stone, Charles Hinton, Mark Robbins, Jimmie Wilson and William Parker.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
A special thanks is extended to the nursing staff on the 5th floor Hospice unit for giving her tender care and making her last hours peaceful.
