On July 01, 1946, God blessed Albert “Buddy” Reed and Annie Lue Thomas Sadler Reed with a beautiful baby girl, Dorothy Reed. On Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024, Dorothy departed her earthly life at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, surrounded by her family. She was 77 years old.
Dorothy devoted her life to Christ at the age of eleven and was baptized at Blackland MB Church in Shannon, MS. She attended Siggers High School in Shannon, MS. On July 05, 1966, she married Otha Miller. Their union lasted 55 years until his death in 2021. In 1968, she joined Poplar Springs CME Church, where she remained a faithful member. Dorothy was a dedicated and hardworking servant for her church and the community until she gained her wings and crown.
Dorothy was employed at NMMC. She worked forty years there before she retired in 2009. Her hobbies included searching for great deals at all the surrounding thrift stores. She loved her church family. She had a special love for the children and youth in the church and in the community. Amongst the many boards and auxiliaries Dorothy held within the church, she spent most of her time working with the children and youth department. You could always find her in the fellowship hall of the church cooking, cleaning and serving her church family.
In the community, she had a love for baseball that she shared with her husband. She was known as the “fish-lady”, because she loved to fry fish on game days.
