Mrs. Betty Carol Hill, 85, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, at The Elison in Oxford, MS. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at North Oxford Cemetery with Rev. Les Newsom and Rev. Brian Sorgenfrei officiating.
Betty was born on April 13, 1939, in Lexington, TN, to the late Alene Bell and James Davalston Hall. She worked in banking throughout her entire career, becoming the Vice President of Bancorp South, a position she held for 20 years until her retirement. A loving wife and mother, she found great joy in caring for her family and making many of her children’s clothes over the years. When she found time in between her work and raising children, you could find Betty in the kitchen preparing delicious meals or baking up special treats. She carved out time for herself to play tennis with friends, practice her needlework, and challenge herself with crossword puzzles. After the kids left home, she and her husband, Curtis, developed a love for traveling. When he passed, Betty found comfort and peace at her beloved North Oxford Baptist Church. She devoted so much of her time to serving the church in many capacities and was very involved with her Sunday school class. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred Curtis Hill, and her brother, James Hall.
Betty is survived by her three daughters, Dana Fields and her husband, Bill, of Oxford, MS, Cheryl Newman and her husband, Sean, of Brandon, MS, and Stephanie Hill of Brandon, MS; two sons, Steve Hill and his wife, Lynn, of Wilmington, NC and Greg Hill and his wife, Adriana, of Houston, TX; and four grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to North Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1700, Oxford, Mississippi 38655.
