Ernest “Pete” Worthey

Saltillo – Ernest Lee “Pete” Worthey passed away on Tuesday, July 02, 2024 at the Sanctuary Hospice House. He had worked at Puckett Sports Wear, and retired from Action (Lane) MFG. and he enjoyed reading his Bible, working on different projects, fishing, sports and he was an avid MSU fan. Pete was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He was also a member of Mayfield Church of Christ for 29 years, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Elder.

Funeral services will be held at Mayfield Church of Christ Friday, July 05, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Adam Miller officiating. Committal services will follow in Mayfield Church of Christ Cemetery with Bro. Brian Stephens officiating. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Paepke Worthey of Saltillo; (2) sons, Jeffrey Lee Worthey (Jennifer) of Okolona and Eric Keith Worthey (Alisha) of Selmer, TN; sisters, Evelyn Laney (Paul) of Nettleton, Peggy Green of Nettleton, Carol Thomas (Danny) of Nettleton and Jan Logan of Lynchburg, TN; (4) grandchildren, Erica Nichole Worthey, Clay Andrew Worthey, Anna Leigh Worthey, Will Earnest (Erin) and their children, Haidyn Leigh Earnest, Aubree Earnest, and Daniel Trace Earnest; extended family, Rickey and Michelle Roberson and their children, Clare Cash (Ashton), Guy Roberson, Wes Roberson, Rhett Roberson, Ivy Roberson; special friends, Jean Lewis and Shelby and Evelyn Lyons; host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earmel Lee Worthey and Laura Griggs Worthey; brother, Gerald Worthey; sister, Joanne Burroughs; brother-in-laws, Tyson Green and Richard Logan.

Pallbearers will be Jason Kelly, Wayne Williams, Ricky Roberson, Guy Roberson, Will Earnest, Gary Michael Burroughs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby Lyons, Lonnie Neaves, Mark Stiles, Mike Stanford and Mike Miller.

Visitation will be at Mayfield Church of Christ on Thursday, July 04, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 p. m.
