Gloria Newman
Baldwyn-Gloria J. Newman, age 79 died Friday July 19, 2024 at her home after a long illness. She was a retired nurse and worked as a teaching assistant with the Lee County Schools where she worked with special need students and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Guntown and a Sunday School Teacher. She loved her church, being a nurse. She enjoyed live musicals and plays and her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her fur baby Trixie.
Services will be Monday at 2 pm at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Unity Cemetery.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jennifer Horton & David Bates of Booneville & Tatia Williams & Eddy of Baldwyn, a son, Brian Newman & Jhada of Mantachie and Jeremy Newman of Baldwyn,
2 sisters Gail Bolen & Johnny and Teresa Long & David both of the Unity Community Grandchildren, Mallory Thomas & Justin of Baldwyn, Sarah Gilmore & Zack of Baldwyn, Will Horton of Baldwyn, Carrie Anne Horton of Tupelo, Brian Kace & Sarah of Pontotoc, Barkley Fike of Mantachie and Gadje Fike of Saltillo 9 great great grandchildren and 5 nieces.
Pallbearers will be David Bates, Eddy Williams, Will Horton, Brian Kace, Justin Thomas and Zack Gilmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents James & Anna Lou Bryant Morgan, her husband of 60 years Larry Newman and her in-laws J.C. & Nell Newman and a son-in-law Tommy Horton.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-8 pm at Waters Funeral Home.
