Robert Kevin Ramsey

Mr. Robert Kevin Ramsey, 70, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. A memorial service honoring Robert’s life will be held October 11, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at the Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS.

Robert was born on June 3, 1954, in Gulfport, MS, to the late Audrey Wright and Woodrow Wilson Ramsey. A veteran of the United States Army (1977 – 1984), he proudly served as an infantryman and received the following service awards: Good Conduct Medal 2D Ward, Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Marksman Badge with M-16 Rifle, and Expert Badge with Hand Grenade. His time in the military meant so much to him, and he often reminisced on how much he missed it.

After returning home, he trained as a welder, working in construction for most of his life. Robert was a hard worker his whole life and stayed with all of his jobs until each plant closed and retired from the food service at the University of Mississippi in 2022. Robert loved the coast and he loved to fish.

Robert is survived by his sister, Nadine Ramsey of Oxford, MS; brothers, Andrew “Andy” Ramsey and his wife, Dianne, of Ocean Springs, MS, Tim Ramsey and his wife, Susan, of Gulfport, MS, and Preston Ramsey of Pueblo, CO; two nephews, Timothy Ramsey (Darlene) of Gulfport, MS and Christopher Ramsey (Rehem) of Boston, MA; one niece, Mary Ramsey of Gulfport, MS; as well as three great-nieces and one great-great niece.
