Michael James Lasker, 79 passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at his daughter’s residence in Winfield, AL due to a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held in Starkville, MS on August 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery, with his nephew Fields Ferguson officiating the service. Mr. Lasker was born on November 2, 1944 in Chelsea, Maine to the late Mickey and June Lasker. He graduated from Murray High School in Jackson, MS and then went to Mississippi State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
He was later employed in Alabama for 50 years most of which were spent in the manufactured housing industry in which he served in many capacities. Many years in this industry were spent traveling internationally and seeing the many cultures of the world. He retired from Jefferson County in Birmingham Board of Equalization where he did home and land appraisals for 10 years before moving back to Starkville.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Haleyville, AL and then also in Starkville, MS before his wife Bonnie got sick and passed away.
Mr. Lasker is preceded in death by his parents, Mickey & June Lasker and his wife Bonnie Bost Lasker. He is survived by his children Michelle Foster of Winfield, AL, Matthew (Taylor) Lasker of Oak Harbor, WA, brother Owen (Carolyn) Lasker of Prescott Valley, AZ, grandchildren Jacob (Jessica) Foster, Coeur D’Alene, ID, Caitlyn (Cody) Brasfield, Chelsea, AL, Jordan (Lexis) Lasker, Haleyville, AL, Karlie Lasker, Haleyville, AL, Gracelynn, Houstin, Bristol, Decklin & Madden Lasker of Oak Harbor, WA, great-grandchildren Camden Dell, Anna Gray Brasfield, Cooper Lasker and a host of nieces and nephews.
