Martha Cooper
Guntown- Martha Cooper, age 74 died at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after an extended illness. She was a CNA, member of the Jacinto Church of Christ and enjoyed being at home and babysitting. She loved flowers, cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Roberts and Bro. Danny Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Jacinto Church of Christ Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Cooper of Guntown; daughters, Donna Kaye Chaffin of Baldwyn, Marjorie Newby (Carl) of Booneville and Sylvia Tigner (Britt) of Baldwyn; son, Michael Chaffin of Baldwyn; sisters, Doris McClung, Gretchen Grimes (Wayne), Kathy Brewer (Tommy) and Marilyn Stephenson (Eddie); brother, Sylvester Jones (Carolyn); (9) grandchildren; (22) great-grandchildren; host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Demps Jones and Donnie Augusta Lambert Jones; grandson, Robert Chaffin and a great-granddaughter, Kinsley Lee.
Pallbearers will be Carl Newby, Britt Tigner, Braxton Tigner, Neal Tigner, Austin Lee and Anthony Lee.
Her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p. m.
