Garland E. Rogers, Sr., 87, of Laurel, MS, passed away from his earthly life on Tuesday, October 28, 2024 at Wisteria Manor in Shubuta, MS.
Garland was born November 23, 1936 to Garland G. Rogers and Aline Dooley Rogers. He spent most of his life in Ellisville, Laurel and Jones County. Garland was a Navy Reservist. He was a 33-year retired employee of Halliburton.
Before his illness, Garland enjoyed spending time at the American Legion in Laurel, playing Dominoes and visiting with his fellow Veterans.
Garland was preceded in death by his father, Garland G. Rogers; mother, Aline Dooley Rogers; adored stepmom, Evelyn Rogers; sisters, Kay Rogers Lowery and Rosemary Rogers; and son and namesake, Garland Edgar Rogers, Jr.
Garland is survived by daughter and caregiver, Alicia Rogers Taylor (Jeff); son, Charles Lang Rogers (Laurie); grandsons, Garland Aaron Rogers, Charlie Rogers (Leslie); and special grandson/buddy, Brady Taylor; great granddaughter, Landyn Denise Rogers; and great grandson, Jaxon Lang Rogers. He is also survived by brothers, Robert W. Rogers (Charlotte) and Jimmy Roy Rogers; stepbrother, Lee Dennis; stepsister, Dixie Walters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Wisteria Manor for excellent care over this last year of Mr. Rogers illness.
A graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford, MS at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024. Mr. Rogers will be buried next to his father and mother. Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS and Waller Funeral Home of Oxford, MS have been entrusted with the arrangements.
