Jackie Wayne Davis, 91, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Countrywood Manor Assisted Living in Mantachie. He was born October 7, 1933, to Oscar and Annie Mae Collier Davis. He loved His Lord and was a faithfull member of Lakeland Southern Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 45 years and taught Sunday School. He owned the clothing stores, Fulton Factory Outlet and Davis Fashion Barn. He retired with Woodman of the World Life Insurance Company after 29 years. He then worked for Mutual of Omaha until the age of 79. He loved working for the public. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Civitan Club. In his younger days, he loved to garden and travel with family. He was an avid Ole Miss fan.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie with Bro. David Turner officiating. Joshua Davis will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Barry W. Davis (Carolyn) of Mantachie; one daughter, Jan Butler (Jeff) of Mantachie; four grandchildren, Joshua Davis (Sarah), Joy White (Jared), Jill Akers, Alex Davis (Danielle); six great grandchildren, Kaleb Davis, Lana White, Kullen Davis, Ava White, Holt Davis, and Maggie Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Davis; one son, Kerry Lane Davis; two grandchildren, Austin Davis and Joycelyn Butler; one great grandson, Bo River Davis; one brother, Rubal Davis; an infant sister, Virginia Davis; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Davis, Alex Davis, Jared White, Kaleb Davis, Kullen Davis, and Michael Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Adult Sunday School class and the Deacons of Lakeland Southern Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Sunday from noon until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeland Southern Baptist Church Building Fund, 5719 River Road, Mantachie, MS 38855.
