Harold Chaffin

Harold Wayne Chaffin, 73, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord, Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Harold was born in Booneville MS. on May 14, 1951, to Curtis and Willodean Chaffin. He attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College and was a graduate of Ole Miss. He served 8 years in the National Guard. Harold had a servant’s heart and was loved and respected by everyone he met.

Harold started his career working for Big Star Grocery in Baldwin MS. His Law Enforcement career began with the Lee County Sherriff’s department in 1974. He then moved to the Tupelo Police department where he retired as Chief of Police. Harold served a total of 35 years in law enforcement where he tried to serve the people of Lee County to the best of his ability. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Harold’s Home Going service will be held at Waters Funeral Home on Thursday, December 26, 2024. There will be a brief receiving at 10:30 with the Funeral beginning at 11:00. Burial will be at 2:00 PM at Little Brown Cemetery in New Site, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife of 43 years.

Harold was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his wife Twila. 

Those left to cherish his memories include three children: Andy Chaffin of Lucedale, MS., Chad Chaffin (wife Onika), and Tara Chaffin of Tupelo, MS, Harold’s grandchildren: Kaylee Austin (Christopher), McKenzy Chaffin, Luna Chaffin, Sophia Chaffin, Lakelyn Newburn, Sister Phyllis Wright (Larry) of Claremont, NC, along with several nieces and nephews, and a special fur-baby friend Duchess; amazing caregivers at the meadows whom he loved very much.

Pallbearers include Jackie Clayton, Bart Aguire, John Conrad, Jerry Crocker, Randy Tutor, Jim Johnson, Charles Sumner, and Mike Ivy.

Honorary pallbearers, Roy Langston, Donnie Taylor, Dr. Ricky Parker, and David Ledbetter.
