Jamie Ann Rowsey Hubbard, age 88, died on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Oxford, MS with her family surrounding her. A private, family memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Hubbard will be held at a later date at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, located in the Jaynesville Community near Magee, MS.
Mrs. Hubbard was born in Batesville, MS on October 20, 1936, where she lived until moving to Jackson in 1958. She graduated from Batesville High School, Northwest Community College, and The University of Mississippi. She was involved in several community activities over the years, and held various positions in her church, Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hubbard’s favorite role was that of wife, mother and grandmother, all of which she enjoyed to the fullest.
In those roles of mother and wife, Mrs. Hubbard was the epitome of a servant. She served her family above all else and was adorned with a natural kindness rarely found in our world today. She was as selfless as she was kind and would go to any lengths to assure the safety and happiness of those she loved the most. She defined the word grace in just about every endeavor she set her heart to.
Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her husband John Reed Hubbard, as well as her parents, Annie Pearl Reeves Rowsey and James Ernest Rowsey of Batesville, Mississippi. She is survived by her son John Reed Hubbard, Jr. of Austin, Texas, her son James Samuel Hubbard of Madison, Mississippi and her daughter Virginia Ann (Ginger) Hubbard Newsom and husband, William Lester (Les) Newsom of Oxford, Mississippi and four grandchildren, Margaret Amelia (Maggie) Hubbard of New York, New York, Anna Grace Newsom of Nashville, Tennessee, Caroline Virginia Newsom of Palo Alto, California, and William Luke Newsom of Oxford, Mississippi.
