Peggy Marie Burt, peacefully passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 87, Bruce Community Living Center. She was born on June 9, 1937, in Calhoun County Mississippi, and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Peggy dedicated over 25 years of her life to her work as a factory worker at Glenn Slacks, a testament to her unwavering work ethic and resilience. She was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, where she found strength, community, and connection with others who shared her faith.
Peggy had a passion for gardening, and her love of flowers brought color and joy to her life and the lives of those around her. She took great pride in cultivating her garden, often sharing its beauty with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (David) Sullivan of Water Valley, MS; her son, Sam (Kim) Burt of Bruce, MS; her cherished grandchildren Jody (LaDonna) Burt, Courtney Burt, Jessica (Jason) Barefield, Lacy (Brad) Melton, Carrington (Jahew) Harrelson, Alexis (Zack) Kimbrough, and Hannah (Jordan) Cain; her sisters Jean Burt of Byrum, MS and Shirley Edwards of Bruce, MS; and Kerlan Nix of Bruce, MS. Each of them will carry forward her memory and the lessons of love and perseverance she instilled in them.
A public viewing will be held on January 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects during this time of remembrance. A funeral service will take place in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce on January 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Rocky Mount Cemetery. Jason Barefield, Bryant Burt, Dewayne Burt, Jody Burt, Jordan Cain, Jahew Harrelson, Brad Melton, Susan Edwards, and Zack Kimbrough will serve as pallbearers
In this time of sorrow, let us reflect on Peggy’s life—a life filled with love, laughter, and a devotion to family. As we honor her memory, we remember the beauty she brought into the world and the love she shared so generously. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Peggy was preceded in death by; her husband, Henry Burt, father, Bryan Nix, mother Lilly Belle Nix, son, Mike Burt, grandaughter, Laykyn Burt, brothers James Nix, and Bryan Nix jr, sister, Ruby L. Logan.
