Barbara Connell Thweatt

Mrs. Barbara Connell Thweatt, 78, died Saturday, January 18, 2025, at her home in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Delay Baptist Church with Rev. John Thweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Delay Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12:30 at the church.

Mrs. Thweatt was born on October 10, 1946, in Eupora, MS to the late Lester and Virgie Wilson Connell. Together with her late husband, Curtis Thweatt, they attended Delay Baptist Church and shared a mutual love of tending to their flower garden and bird watching. Mrs. Thweatt worked as a secretary at The University of Mississippi in the School of Business and the English department’s graduate program. Her family recalls her love of cooking and will especially miss her special banana pudding and chocolate pies. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Franklin Rosamond; a daughter, Rhonda Nicole Hitt; a brother, Lester Lewis “Pete” Connell, Jr. and a great grandchild, Sophia Elaine Smiley.

She is survived by two daughters, Sonya Lara of Franklin, TN and Donna Patterson of Oxford, MS; three sons, Stephen Rosamond of Oxford, MS, Mack Thweatt and his wife, Beth of Paris, MS and Mark Thweatt and his wife, Nancy of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, LilaGrace Lara, Nikki Thweatt, Kasey Earnest, Cory (Chelsea) Thweatt, Mitchell Thweatt, Amanda (Drew) Smiley, Paden Patterson, , Alexandra (Daniel) Phillips and Evan (Morgan) Thweatt; and twelve great grandchildren.
