Vickie Lynn Vaughn Sutherland, age 66, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Bruce, Mississippi. Born on November 12, 1958, in Houston, Mississippi, Vickie lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her faith and family.
The oldest daughter of six children born to Paul and Hazel Ware Vaughn. Her love for learning and teaching led her to a fulfilling career in education. Over the years, she taught at both Calhoun City and Bruce schools, where she left a lasting impression on countless students.
Vickie was an active member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in numerous roles. She enjoyed performing with the drama team as her beloved alter ego “Glory Bee”.
Above all else, Vickie cherished her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband Tim Sutherland of Bruce; her son Robert Sutherland (Emily) of Pontotoc; her daughter Elizabeth Keel (Nathan) of Water Valley; grandchildren, Charlsy and Katy Sutherland of Pontotoc; and Jake Poteete of Bruce. Her siblings Keith Vaughn (Pam) of West Point; Ann Brand (Jimmy) of Sparta; Tim Vaughn (Amy) of Sparta; and Terry Vaughn of Calhoun City.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Hazel Vaughn and a Baby Brother whose memory remained close to her heart throughout her life.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 14, 2025 from 10:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church 38 County Road 257. We will have visitation from 10:00 until 12:00 and the funeral service will begin at 12:00. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Mt. Comfort Building Fund or Operation Christmas Child in her honor.
