Mrs. Dora Mae Fisher Lowder, 76, died Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, MS. The family will hold a private graveside service.
Mrs. Lowder was born on April 25, 1949, to the late William Henry and Susie Pulliam Atkinson. She was the widow of Mr. Dewey Douglas Lowder and Mr. Lewis William Fisher and a loving mother to her four daughters. While raising her girls, she was an ever-present example of kindness, generosity and love. Her girls fondly remember the hours their mother spent in the kitchen preparing homecooked meals and the comfort and joy that followed by being together as a family, around the table. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Vaughn and four brothers, James Atkinson, William Atkinson, John Atkinson and Bobby Atkinson.
Mrs. Lowder is survived by four daughters, Melissa Sue Wilson and her husband, James of Hattiesburg, MS, Tina Marie Mims of Oxford, MS, Teresa Kay Fisher of Oxford, MS and Rebecca Mae Fisher of Oxford, MS; three sisters, Ann Jenkins of Bruce, MS, Nita Sue Holley of Pontotoc, MS and Deniese Littlejohn of Pontotoc, MS; five grandchildren, Colby Wilson, Candace Dorman, Jonathan Mims, Jessica Mims and Katie Mims and eight great-grandchildren.
