James Dillard
Saltillo- James C. Dillard, 84, passed away at his home on Friday, July 11, 2025. He sold farm, chemical and seed supplies and later retired from The Wax Company. He enjoyed fishing, and raising Brahman cattle, miniature horses and donkeys. James was the last living member of the original Lee County Cattlemen’s Association and he was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Waters Funeral Home on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 3:00 p. m. with Bro. Chad Higgins officiating. Burial will be in the Old Birmingham Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Kay Crockett Dillard of Saltillo; two daughters, Allyson Johnson and Jan Garrett (Eric) all of Saltillo; grandchildren, Nick Simmons (Michelle), JohnMark Johnson (Ginny), Jade Garrett (Miranda), Ben Garrett, Hunter Garrett (Janie) and Matthew Johnson; great-grandchildren, Allen Thomas Bridgers, Weston Simmons, Anna Simmons, Eli Garrett, Swayze Johnson, Avaleigh Garrett, Ellisyn Garrett and Anniston Garrett; very special friend, Jackie Lindsey (Billy) of Saltillo; host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lem and Hazel DeVaughn Dillard; granddaughter, Ally Grace Johnson and a sister, Eunice Robison.
Pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Mike Robison, Jeff Bridges, Eddie Young, Pat Young, Mark Johnson, Matthew Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Teresa Taylor, Barry Wax, Shirley Burgeson and Mary Evans.
Visitation will be Sunday night at Waters Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:-00 p. m.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Camp Creek Baptist Church in his memory.
