Jonnie Wait Fitch

Mrs. Jonnie Wait Fitch, 80, died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS. Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at Waller Funeral Home West Hall from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. A service will be held at Waller Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Alan Cochet officiating.

Jonnie was a loving wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother, known for her kind heart and deep devotion to her family and friends. A long-time Oxford resident, Jonnie had a fulfilling career at the University of Mississippi’s Division of Outreach and Continuing Education, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. She was also a cherished member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, where she shared her musical talent as the church pianist for decades.

Jonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Shaw Fitch, her daughter Courtney Anne Fitch Arnold, and her parents Herbert Crisler and Faye Marie Allen Wait.

Survivors include her son-in-law Trey Arnold of Madison, MS; her sisters Mary Katherine Frazier of Baytown, TX and Anne Porter (Joel) of Highlands, NC; her brother Cris Wait (Phyllis) of Etta, MS; sisters-in-law Linda Sallis of Oxford, MS and Alice Marascalo of Grenada, MS; and grandchildren Sarah Evans (Newman) of Birmingham, AL, and Rebekah Templeton (Mitchell) of Memphis, TN.
