James Orman Ross

Mr. James “Jimmy” Orman Ross, 67, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo, MS. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in Waller Funeral Home’s West Hall and will also be held prior to Saturday’s service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Ross was born on April 14, 1958, in Oxford, MS to the late Orman Carl and Dell Yvonne Ross. He spent his life rooted in the Oxford community he loved, where he graduated from Oxford High School and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. Jimmy was a long-time employee of Briscoe & Sons Farms & Construction, where he farmed for thirty-eight years, and was affectionally known as “Jim Buck”. Since 1966, he was a faithful and dedicated member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, where his faith and friendships remained an important part of his life. He found his greatest joy outdoors- hunting and fishing- but nothing meant more to him than spending quality time with his daughter and many friends. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Carla Ross Grindle.

Survivors include his daughter, MacKenzie Slate Ross, and her mother, Tina Goforth Ross, both of Oxford, MS; and sister, Yvonne Ross Maxey (Bonnie) of Vista, CA. In addition to his family, he leaves behind his beloved Briscoe work family.
