James Ray “Poopsie” Raines

Saltillo- James Ray “Poopsie” Raines, age 81, of Saltillo, MS went to be with the Lord on February 9th at NMMC while he was surrounded by his loved ones and is now resting in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ. James Ray was born on July 13, 1944 in Lee County to Robert and Aline Raines. He lived a life marked by service to his family and sought to honor the Lord in both word and deed.He worked at Riley’s Egg Farm and retired from Lee County Solid Waste and was a faithful member of Euclatubba Baptist Church.Above all, James Ray loved the Lord and his family. He found joy in camping, working in his shop, and going to the lake.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11 at 2 p. m. at Euclatubba Baptist Church, with Brother Scott Witcher officiating. Burial will be in Euclatubba Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by Barbara, his beloved wife of 62 years; Daughters, Tina Meeks and Becky Tatum (Troy); grandchildren Allegra Parker (Drew), Clint Huddleston (Tiffany), Cody Huddleston, Karter Meeks (Laken), Sarah Tatum (Brandon), 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Aline Raines; infant daughter Sandra Kay; brothers, George Robert, Jim, and John Wayne; and grandson, Ryan Meeks.

Visitation will be immediately before the service from noon until 2:00 p.m.
