Rachael V. Siler

Rachael V. Siler, 81, died on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Sunrise Senior Living in Raleigh, NC. Rach, as family and friends often called her, was born on July 28, 1944, in Oxford, MS, to Elton and Ida Mae Teasler. She cherished memories of her childhood in Oxford.

She later met Preston Siler of McNairy, TN, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion, OH. Embarking on a nearly 57 year life together, the two were married on January 31, 1965.

Throughout her life, Rachael loved music and was beloved in her role as church pianist for decades. She found a particular joy in the company of young people, whether it was teaching Sunday School, working with students in the A&S Budget Office at the University of Louisville, or playing games in the back yard with family and friends. At her core was a youthful spirit that will forever be remembered.

Preceded in death by Preston in 2022, Rachael is survived by her children, Greg Siler and Alicia Gail Hayes; her grandchildren, Adam and Annabelle Hayes; and her sisters, Billye Bryan, Corrine Bagget, and Barbara McDole.

She will be laid to rest beside Preston with a graveside service at Yellow Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford, MS, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00 P.M.
